I am anxious to see who you think "is in" or who "is out." Maybe some of you will have a comment as to why you think certain ballplayers will make it into the HOF--or not....
Will, that's all I have for today. Until next time, so long everybody....

Cowboy,
ReplyDeleteLocks for the Hall of Fame:
Albert Pulholz: better than Frank Thomas, Jim Rice and several recent inductees
Derek Jeter: any SS who ends up with over 3300 hits is automatic
Mariano Rivera: alltime save leader gets in.
Ichiro Suzuki: already has 3706 hits and 622 steals in Japan and US
Jim Thome: over 600 HRs, career OPS of .959 and currently #78 in Wins Above Replacement means that he's 1st ballot
Alex Rodriguez: won't get in first couple of ballots due to steroids but his career numbers and being best in majors for 10 years and one of the best 10 alltime will het him in.
Chipper Jones: career .304 hitter, 454 HRs, 1 MVP and .935 lifetime OPS means he's first ballot
Highly probable:
Roger Clemens: one of 5 best pitchwers of all time; never admitted use and was never convicted so they will let him in
Ivan Rodriguez: Wins Above Replacement is #2 all time to Johnny Bench for catchers; one of 5 best alltime catchers should get in despite steroid suspicions
Scott Rolen: pretty good career numbers though never the best at his position
Good chance barring injury:
Miguel Cabrera: only 28; if he has 4 more good years he should be in
Evan Longoria: obnly 25 but off to a good start; needs 6 more years of high production and he's in
Troy Tolowitzki: similar to Longoria; at 26 he needs 6 more big years
Won't make it:
Barry Bonds: symbol of steroid use and convicted of lying will bar him; the Shoeless Joe Jackson of the steroid era
Mark McGwire: only plus stat is HRs; low RBIs, BA and other stats plus steroid use means he won't get in
Todd Helton: 5 great years' stats inflated by Coors and only 347 HRs not enough; Dwight Evans, Dick Allen and others rank higher but not in the Hall
Roy Halladay: at 34 has only 188 wins
