The Yankees Have Begun To Assert Themselves ...
The Yankees have begun to assert themselves w/the pickup of Hiroki Kiroda and w/the trade for Michael Pineda. Still, I have to ask, will they look back & regret having let go of Jesus Montero? Will they seemingly come from nowhere & go for Prince Fielder?
To my way of thinking, Theo Epstein continues to impress w/his rebuilding of the Cubs. He has added some promising young prospects & some viable starting pitching w/Travis Wood & Chris Volstad. Zambrano is now gone & Soriano is on his way. Ian Stewart will play a gold glove caliber 3rd base w/ a possible 25 to 30 home runs @ approximately $15 million less than Aramis Ramirez. Anthony Rizzo will man 1st base @ $ 416,000 a year; the key here will be whether or not he will prove out like Eric Hosmer did last year. I believe that he will. Kerry Wood & Reed Johnson have been resigned & David DeJesus was picked up.
The Arizona Diamondbacks have chosen not to sit on there laurels. Will they be a force in 2012?
The St. Louis Cardinals will have Adam Wainwright back, have added Carlos Beltran, & have resigned Rafael Furcal. David Freese has always been a .300 hitter. Will he now embark upon superstar status, and, will he avoid the injury bug that has continuously plagued his short career? Matt Holliday & Lance Berkman remain in the middle of the lineup & will have to be reckoned with. Will this be enough to overcome the losses of Albert Pujols & Tony LaRussa? ...
Until next time, so long everybody ...
