BJ Upton is Close ...

B.J. Upton Moves Up To Double-A In Preparation For Rejoining Rays

B.J. Upton collided with Tampa Bay Rays teammate Desmond Jennings during a Grapefruit League contest in the middle of March, and it tweaked Upton's back enough to put him on the disabled list to start the season. According to the Tampa Bay Times, Upton is close to rejoining the team:
B.J Upton (lower back soreness) was promoted from Class A Charlotte to Double-A Montgomery for three final games on his rehab assignment starting Tuesday, which likely precludes him rejoining the Rays until Friday.
Upton played four games for the Charlotte Stone Crabs of the Florida State League, where he went 1-for-11 with a walk. And that was good for a promotion? Man, the kids these days ...
Now he'll be a Montgomery Biscuit, and he'll be on the major-league team as soon as Friday, assuming that his back feels right after a week's worth of game action. In Upton's absence, Jeff Keppinger has been getting a lot of playing time, sliding Ben Zobrist out to the outfield.
